Mr. Alex A. ("Bo") Shafer, Jr.

Bo shared some experiences and insights in hopes of making us not only better professionals but stewards of the insurance industry.

Bio: Bo Shafer is no stranger to hard work and helping others. Bo served his country in the United States Army, graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in business and then opened Shafer Insurance Agency, where he's faithfully served his clients as an independent agent since 1960. "Be Safer with Shafer" is more than a phrase - it is what Shafer Insurance Agency means.

A valuable member of his community, Bo works with Kiwanis International, The United Way, the Salvation Army and is active in his church. He also co-founded the Knoxville chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Among his many honors, Bo has received the Outstanding Civic Leader Award from the National Society of Fund Raising and the Kiwanis International Foundation Tablet of Honor.

Amidst all of Bo's professional and charitable work, he still finds time to go boating and enjoys time with his wife, Mary Gwyn, their children and grandchildren.

Bo is the well-rounded kind of individual that we are proud to have as a leader within the insurance industry.
