Board Meeting Minutes
February 1, 2002

Attendees: Bob Braun, Brian Wood, Bernie Nachtrab, James Henry, Eli Shupe, Nancy Moore, Sharyn Prime, Diane Richardson

I. Review of 1/4/02 minutes: The minutes were approved.

II. Finance report: Bernie Nachtrab reported that our finances were on the low side; dues checks from National normally arrive by the end of February. Unpaid lists come out now. We lost $1607 on I-Day. Programs and the golf outing are generally fund-makers the rest of the year.
The CIB contract has been signed. The 1099's for instructors have been mailed. Loman Foundation planning must begin. Incorporation forms were signed this month; accounting has changed but we should not need a further change to the by-laws.
Bernie also noted that the Insuring the Children performance at Playhouse in the Park was this month and support would be appreciated.

III. Officer reports: Sharyn Prime met with the Cincinnati Insurance Board and discussed changing I-Day. Ron Eveleigh is getting the names of others to participate, such as the Greater Cincinnati Agents, Black Agents Association, RIMS Chapter, Risk Ed Society, CAIFA, and Northern Kentucky Agents. It was approved to move the date of I-Day in 2003 to April to try to include as many local participants as possible.
Jim Henry, Brian Wood, and Sharyn will be working on this. Sharyn said we may want to have a separate account for I-Day but at first we may want to be the financial organizer and backer.
Eli asked about venue - would it be a hotel? No, probably try for Great American Ballpark or Paul Brown Stadium.
Nancy asked if NAIW would be involved in conferment? No, probably not; they would do their own. The November meeting would then be the CPCU conferment with perhaps a nice dinner.
Sharyn added she and Brian had nothing to report on the strategic planning/marketing program.
Brian Wood stated he had nothing to report; Sharyn was on top of everything.
Bob Braun had a note from Insuring the Children thanking us for the money. He passed around the plaque from National with our Circle of Excellence award.
We have been approached to support the Insurance Women's Regional Convention to be held at the Marriott Rivercentre April 4-7. The following were suggestions: ad in the program; help sponsor hospitality room; co-share a booth with Insuring the Children; support a speaker; sponsor a workshop; sponsor a break. Bernie suggested we should probably check to see what NAIW needed. Brian agreed to get in touch with Shauna Lieberman, regional VP.

IV. Committee reports:

Education: Bob reported for Dorothy Glancy and Diana Cooper that there were only five registrants for classes so they would probably be cancelled. Sharyn and Brian will be tackling education delivery for members. Our Circle of Excellence requirement was met because we had classes this year.
Regarding finances: we paid instructors based on number of people, but one instructor thinks he is getting the full amount. If we pay him we should probably pay the others the full amount. Bernie added that payment was still an issue with Karen Meyers. He suggested we get some numbers together and see where we go.

Scholarships: Eli Shupe had nothing yet at the college level.

Good Works: Nancy Moore has a person at Big Lots coordinating blankets. Delivery will probably be next weekend. She has a check from Insurance Women and also a collection of men's clothing.
She is readying a flier for the high school essay contest. Bob Braun and Ron Eveleigh will be judges along with someone from Insurance Women. She is working on Ohio schools but we may want to add Indiana and northern Kentucky.

Agency Section: Nothing to report.

Programs: Jim Henry had sent the updated program schedule. The Turfway flier was out; he is working with Greg Deimling on the meeting on ethics, to be held in northern Kentucky. April 9th is a section meeting. Nothing yet on a seminar with Don Malecki. Then comes the Golf Outing. Jim will be out of town for the February meeting.

Continuing Ed and CPD: Nothing to report.

Membership: Nothing to report.

V. Other Business: Eli reports the e-mail is still being worked on it. He plans to test it this month. Should be about 75-80% complete.
Bob says goal #2 of the Circle of Excellence criteria needs to be pushed.
