The minutes of the September 6th meeting were approved.
November 12th Meeting:
Bob reporting.
A special invitation to past presidents will be sent,
and a general invitation flier will go to regular members. A special
invitation will also go to new designees.
Gifts: The gifts to the new designees are acrylic desk stands suitably
engraved. Pewter paperweights are the gifts for the Chapter members.
There are to be table decorations. A number will be placed under one
chair at each table; that person will receive the centerpiece. Julie
Kadner promised to help.
The agreed-upon $1000 donation to the Catherine Salter Memorial Fund
will be acknowledged. Insuring the Children will present three grants
to local agencies. The Chapter will present three scholarships to university
students.
Jim Nau will be conferring officer.
Bruce Wilburn will entertain. He presents a musical program about 30
minutes in length for $350 and provides his own equipment.
The announcement for the meeting will soon go out, as well as the Chaptergram.
If anyone can think of industry leaders who should receive special invitations
please advise.
The price for the dinner will be set to cover costs.
Programs:
Jim was not present. Sharyn suggested "A View
From the Top" from industry leaders for January; Eli suggested
February would be a better month because of first-of-year commitments.
December was open.
Brian reports the I-Day April 9th program is taking
shape. Lunch will include a highlights from Cynergy video and a motivational
speaker, Beau Schafer (sp?) from Knoxville. John Fries (sp?) has been
booked and will do a break-out session. There will be an evening activity;
possibly at the Newport Acquarium.
Treasurer's Report:
Bernie was absent, but forwarded a report. We got about $6,100 from
Don Malecki's seminar. Unfortunately, there were many negative comments
about his lack of organization.
Eli asked if the check for Insuring the Children had gone out yet; it
hadn't been received.
Two more people had paid national dues to $86 dues should come in.
Nancy Moore will do a 50-50 raffled at the November 12th meeting.
Scholarship money has gone out.
Project Invest:
Sharyn reporting.
This is an educational program begun in high schools
and community colleges in the 1970s. The goal is to encourage more young
people to consider insurance as a carreer. There is a web site: www.investprogram.org.
Eli asked if perhaps someone from the organization would be prepared
to speak to the Chapter in January. Jon said he would get more information,
and do an article for the Chaptergram (deadline end of first week in
November).
Circle of Excellence Update:
Sharyn and others reporting.
Bob will update the p/c company list and take on
the Loman Project.
Sharyn will do connections visits. Eli suggested Indiana/Liberty Mutual
be a focus because there are many inactive CPCUs there.
Diane will be responsible for getting educational material to Angela
for the web site.
Julie will take on the candidate mentoring program and will work with
Dorothy to maintain and support classes.
Jon will take on Project Invest.
Sharyn will send a blurb to Deanna Smith to put something in local papers
about the scholarship winners.
Brian will take care of the CPCU Excellence Award to be given on I-Day.
We can do a hyperlink from our web site to National's; promote the "Lead
to Succeed" theme.
Sharyn will check with Jim Henry and see about using the Leadership
theme throughout the year.
Brian will do the marketing and Chapter business plans.
Ethics awareness month is March; Pastor Lipsi will be the keynote speaker.
This will probably be a breakfast meeting.
Should Stephan send our e-mail list to National? We decided as a Chapter
we did not wish to do this.
The meeting adjourned at 9:04.
