CPCU BOARD MEETING NOTES Attendees: Brian Wood, Sharyn Prime, Bob Braun, Bob Nottingham, Steve Smith, Julie Kadnar, Nancy Moore, Diane Richardson The meeting began at 7:44. Review of minutes: The minutes were approved. Board/Chair Reports: Steve Smith, Membership, reported that he would be sending copies of the membership list to all board members. Nancy Moore, Good Works, reported that awards for
the scholarship essays might better be presented at I-Day. Julie said
she'd notify the I-Day committee on this. Sharyn Prime, PR, noted that there was a piece in the 9/22 Cincinnati Enquirer about the chapter officers for the year. Boutross Scholarship: Bob Braun noted that the criteria for the scholarships had been laid out. He would like this to be presented as a motion, which was approved. (Note: A copy of the Committee Guidelines will be attached to the secretary's minutes for October, 2003, and kept with the secretary's files.) Sharyn asked about attaching a contact list as "Exhibit A" to the guidelines. I-Day: Julie Kadnar said the program had been firmed up. Lunch will be at 11:45 with the program beginning at 12:30. The main speaker will be John Wurzler and then John Eubanks. The scholarships will be awarded at lunch. We will be doing a drop of 5,000 post cards to agents in the tri-state area. I-Day is April 28. November 11th Program: Brian Wood heard nothing from
Jim Henry. So far, the program includes scholarship presentations, Hugh
McGowan presiding over the conferment, possibly Insuring the Children
presenting grants to charities. Jim Breech as a speaker? Past presidents
will be honored. Drinks will be at 6:30 with a cash bar; dinner at 7:00.
Sharyn will send an announcement to National. Bob will send information
to Angela to post on the Web site. New Business: Julie reported that there were four
CPCU classes at Great American. Brian said that Cincinnati Financial
would partner with any other insurance professionals to come to INS
classes, as would Ohio Casualty Group. Nancy didn't know about Indiana
Insurance but would try to find out who's doing classes. We offered to send Bernie Nachtrab and his wife to New Orleans as a "thank you" for all he's done for the chapter, but he was unable to accept. We still plan to do something for him. Brian said there was no update on the Chapter by-laws that he was aware of. These must be in place in order to incorporate. Julie asked about doing visits to companies to get more participation. Sharyn tried Chubb last year and got shot down. What about EMC (formerly Hamilton Mutual)? Sharyn and Brian said they'd give it a shot. Sharyn brought up Jon Florer's getting some information on Project InVest. Could we get a committee in place to approach schools? Perhaps the younger (newer) members could do this. The next Chaptergram could include information and include a link to the Project InVest Web site. Brian noted the Web site has been cleaned up and should be up to date. Get new material to Angela.
