Board Meeting Minutes
September 6, 2002

Attendees: Sharyn Prime, Bob Braun, Dorothy Glancy, Julie Kadnar, Brian Wood, Stephan Perry, Jim Henry, Bernie Nachtrab, Bob Nottingham, Diane Richardson

Sharyn called the meeting to order at 7:35

The minutes of the July 12th meeting were approved.

Fiftieth Anniversary/Conferment Dinner
Bob reporting.

Bob states that finding entertainment is still a problem. The SCPA can't make it. Suggestions included an Elvis impersonator and contacting CCM. Bernie noted we had budgeted $10,000 for the 50th celebration. There was a discussion about gifts-did we want to give them to all members (we have +/- 430 paid members) or just regular attendees?
Jim Nau is the conferring officer for the evening. Nancy Moore brought up the fact that we'd done a raffle at I-Day for a family at Christmas. If I-Day was moved what happens? We will move the raffle to conferment evening. Nancy will do a write-up for the program, and announce scholarship winners.
The program will include the raffle, scholarship winners, conferment, and entertainment. There will be a page listing all past presidents.

Treasurer's Report
Bernie reporting.

Bernie reviewed the budget. The matching grant from the Loman Foundation has been received so the checks to EKU and Wittenberg will go out. A discussion on a "9/11" contribution followed. There has been a foundation set up by Wendy Faulkner's family, and that is a possibility. Stephan noted that a CPCU, Cathy Salter, had died that day. Julie and Stephan will check on this and report at the October meeting. Sharyn will send a letter to Tom Molloy thanking him for the suggestion.
The budget was approved as presented.

Circle of Excellence
Sharyn reporting

Sharyn asked us to look over the list of activities and find one item and get a few other CPCUs to participate with us in carrying it out. She will do the connections visits. Don Herzeler is unable to do these. Bob suggested Jim Nau might.
Education
Dorothy reporting

Dorothy noted that class focus has changed with the new curriculum. Reviews for those would be difficult. Halfway luncheons have not been successful in the past. Sharyn wondered if a note of encouragement to test-takers could be sent with an offer of a review session.
Jim noted that Great American is holding three classes; would they open review sessions to outsiders? Julie said it's already been discussed and agreed upon. Bernie said we could publicize this in the newsletter.

Program
Jim reporting

There are thirty-six signed up so far for Don Malecki's program but there should be more.
We will probably use Rev. Lipsi for ethics month.

"Project Invest" is tabled until next month. Next month's meeting will be on October 11th.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45.
